Please note that these maps may not fully represent the complete ESTA data as found in the database:

• • A number of (extraordinarily large) estimates of slave trade have been omitted because of distortion;
• • Voyages that have both an unknown departure and arrival location were omitted;
• • Voyages that have either an unknown departure or arrival location have been routed to an 'unknown spot', being in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
• • The maps Enslaved males and Enslaved females include children and infants, while the map Enslaved children excludes adults.

Henceforth, it should be noted that these maps principally serve as indicative and exploratory tools, in contrast to the ESTA voyages.
